Love To Live by The Living Sisters

Album Review:

Friends getting together to make an album seems to more and more common now-a-days. Such is the case with The Living Sisters, which is comprised of Inara George, from The Bird And The Bee, Becky Stark, from Lavender Diamond and Eleni Mandell.

Their harmonizing is reminiscent of some sisters groups such as The Andrews Sisters. As a matter of fact, The Living Sisters sounds like a throw back to the ’50s doo-wop style mixed with some country, folk and jazz.

Vertigo by Jesse Cook

Vertigo (MP3 Music)

List Price: $12.49 USD
New From: $12.49 USD In Stock
Used from: Out of Stock

For you Flamenco purest out there, my apologies for classifying this album as such, but Jesse Cook’s music is a bit difficult to classify.

His third album Vertigo demonstrates that Jesse Cook can really, really play the guitar. As I went from one track to the next looking for the downer among the list, I didn’t find one. However, I was caught off guard by the last track, a cover of Sting’s Fragile.

This album has great guitar, great percussion and technique that almost sounds too good to be real.

The Bridge by Melanie Fiona

The Bridge (MP3 Music)

List Price: $5.99 USD
New From: $5.99 USD In Stock
Used from: Out of Stock

The Bridge by Melanie Fiona:

Modern day 60’s Motown can be found in Melanie Fiona’s debut album The Bridge highlighted by the single It Kills Me. She has a very talented voice and comes from a music filled family. While the album seems to lack some cohesiveness, it is a decent R&B debut from this Canadian artist.

Holding Patterns by Plus/Minus

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Holding Patterns by Plus/Minus:

Product Review

I listened to Holding Patterns by Plus/Minus (+/-) on my way to work a few days ago and again while writing this blog. The songs are a light Alternative sound that works well for both productivity and relaxation. There is a hint of syncopation in most of the songs on Holding Patterns but it wasn’t overdone and seemed to work well and at $0.09, it is almost free.

Silent Waters MP3 Album

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Silent Waters MP3 Album:

I didn’t include the title of the album in the title of this post because it would’ve caused some confusion. Madonna by Silent Waters we know and love.

According to Silent Water’s website, some people describe the style of their music as Electro-Pop. Other say Synth-Pop or Future-Pop. Seems like the main constant there is Pop. Once I listened through the album however, I am leaning more toward Synth-Pop.
