Not A Moment Too Soon by Tim McGraw:

From Amazon.com

It’s best to think of McGraw as the Paul Revere of modern country music: dumb, derivative and too much fun to be easily dismissed. Just as the Raiders made up for their lack of sophistication with an overabundance of enthusiasm, McGraw’s attractive tenor and unerring commercial instincts transform tearjerkers like “Don’t Take the Girl” and “Wouldn’t Want It Any Other Way” and novelty numbers like “Indian Outlaw” and “It Doesn’t Get Any Countrier Than This” into hard-to-resist, low-brow entertainment. –Geoffrey Himes

Let Me Up (I’ve Had Enough) by Tom Petty
Album Review:

Possibly one of the most under-rated albums from Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, Let Me Up (I’ve Had Enough) may not have been a huge commercial success at the time of it’s release in 1987 and is often shunned on greatest hits collections, but it is an album that can stand on its own. While not a classic, there are a few fan favorites including Jammin’ Me, Runaway Trains, The Damage You’ve Done and All Mixed Up. You can pick up this late eighties gem for a decent price while it is a Drifting Deal.

Beethoven’s Last Night by Trans-Siberian Orchestra:

Excerpt from Amazon reviewer Matt (from www.prog.web.com)

TSO follows up their two musically impressive and critically acclaimed Christmas albums in a culminating effort that brings us this completely original rock opera which tells the magnificent story of “what might have happened” on Beethoven’s last night on Earth. Whereas the two Christmas albums had a background story that was tied together with the music on the album, this release is structured much more like a traditional rock opera or Broadway musical, with each different vocalist on the album taking on the role of a certain character. The vocal arrangements are stellar, with numerous hooks and tremendous variation, along with sufficient deviation of rhyming pattern as one might find in a typical musical. Musically, Beethoven’s Last Night is perhaps “toned-down” a bit, having slightly less of a hard metal presence, and features only a handful of instrumental tracks on the 22 cut album instead of the 50/50 mix found on their earlier works.

Electric Love by Dirty Vegas:

Product Description

Ready to capture the World’s attention once again, Electric Love marks the explosive return of Grammy award-winning Dirty Vegas. The group has had worldwide fame with their infectious and acclaimed hit track “Days Go By” (which was featured in the trailblazing Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial). Now the group is back with their 2011 effort, Electric Love. The album finds that elusive sweet spot between the slickly polished electronic sounds of their past and a more decidedly rock edge, deftly balancing beats and guitar-led melodies.

Baby Einstein: The Definitive 100

Baby Einstein: The Definitive 100:

Something for the Kiddies

Continuing its series of child-friendly albums, Baby Einstein is everything one would expect from something with that title (although, in terms of intelligent music for children, there is better stuff — John Lithgow, for example — out there). Most of the songs on the album will already be well-known Classical Music pieces by parents. The album also includes recognizable children songs such as “Do Your Ears Hang Low?,” “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider,” “B-I-N-G-O,” “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”. Musically, it’s nothing extraordinary — simple keyboards and percussion for the most part, with a chorus of children’s voices singing — but it does the trick, and should make any toddler’s playdate a little more enjoyable as all songs featured are fairly upbeat.

Greatest Hits: 1974-1978 by The Steve Miller Band

From Amazon.com

Greatest-hits collections often deprive the listener of the chance to experience an artist’s true scope of talent. Not so with Steve Miller–his strength has always been more in crafting an occasional blast of FM-radio heaven rather than a dozen solid album tracks. Greatest Hits 1974-78 chronicles the best singles from Miller’s most successful years, after he veered from Haight-Ashbury bluesy trippiness to more accessible blues-based pop-rock. There are the slippery grooves of “The Joker” and “Fly Like an Eagle,” and there’s the air-guitar-beckoning riff rock of “Take the Money and Run,” “Jungle Love,” “Rock n’Me,” and “Jet Airliner.” Don’t expect groundbreaking art, expect references to the “pompatus of love” and instant gratification. Requisite listening at the classic-rock keg party. –Neal Weiss
