<5-Element Music for Qigong, Tai Chi, Yoga and Meditation: The Wood Element by Jason Campbell>

Album Review:

Another Freebie Friday, another great album. You can pick up the next Jason Campbell EP 5-Element Music for Qigong, Tai Chi, Yoga and Meditation: The Wood Element for FREE (was $4.95). Once again, he is able to blend the sounds of the Orient with the element of wood (don’t ask how) for a very enjoyable New Age experience. If you enjoyed his last featured album, you’ll probably enjoy this one as well.

Dark and Stormy by Hot Chip

Album Review:

It’s not often that you find a Extended Play that has 8 tracks and almost 50 minutes of music yet Dark and Stormy by Hot Chip is just that. Marketed as a mini album led off with the new single Dark and Stormy and then adding a couple versions of their classic song Flutes and even borrowed some remixes from Todd Terje, Sasha, Major Lazer and Daphni/Caribou. If you are a fan of this London based electronic band, then this album might tide you over until their next full release. Then again, this album is longer than most new full releases from other bands.

Dark and Stormy by Hot Chip

Album Review:

Dark and Stormy by Hot Chip feels like it should be the sixth studio album from the London based synthpop band yet is more of a continuation of their last album as most of the tracks are repeats of remixes off of In Our Heads (Available for $9.49) from 2012. Still, the length comes in at over 50 minutes and if you enjoy the orignals, chances are you’ll like the remixes and have really put the extended in extended play.

Nightlife EP by Phantogram

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

Album Review:

Not all EPs are created equal. The latest EP album Nightlife from Phantogram (an Indie Pop duo from Saratoga Springs, New York) features 6 full length songs and features the single “Don’t Move”. Sarah Barthel sores again on her airy vocals and Josh Carter has describe their sound s “street beat, psych pop”. Fans await their next full album but will enjoy Nightlife as a musical appetizer in the meantime.

The Warriors EP, Vol. 2 by P.O.D.
Album Review:

Some Christian Rock is heavier on the rock than others. P.O.D. is a nu-metal band spreading the word through a heavier than traditional Christian Rock sound with an occasional hint of Reggae and Rap. The Warriors EP was a collection of Demo tracks that came out prior to their Testify release from 2006 and is a must for any P.O.D. fan.

The Gleam by The Avett Brothers EP

Friday, February 4th, 2011

The Gleam by The Avett Brothers:

From Amazon reviewer Benjamin C. Pressley

It may seem slightly pretentious to compare a couple guys from Concord, North Carolina with Lennon and McCartney, but I really can’t think of a comparable songwriting duo to contrast them with. With the greatest bands (whether they achieve superstardom or not) there is always a recognizably steady upward climb in songwriting and performance, and I think this EP speak for itself in terms of how far these guys have come.
