Unbroken Praise (Live) by Matt Redman

Album Review:

English Christian worship leader, singer, songwriter and author Matt Redman is no stranger on the CCM scene as he has been going strong for more than 20 years. His most recent album Unbroken Praise (Live) puts together a wonderful selection of worshipful songs to help listeners sing praises. While there is no constant theme throughout, each song stands on its own and can be applied to the different life stages that we all encounter. Standout tracks include It Is Well With My Soul, Unbroken Praise, Abide With Me, No Longer I, The Awesome God You Are, and more. Be sure to check out the other great $5 albums for this month.

American Soul (Deluxe Edition) by Mick Hucknall

Monday, November 2nd, 2015

Album Review:

Mick Hucknall is best known for this lead in the soul-influenced pop band Simply Red but his most recent release American Soul takes a wide range of classics styled the only way he can. The Deluxe Edition includes 16 soul rocking Live tracks bringing the album to more than 100 minutes in length. Standout tracks include I’d Rather Go Blind, I Only Have Eyes For You, Lonely Avenue, It’s Impossible, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, If You Don’t Know My By Now (Live), and more.

The Turning Point by John Mayall

Album Review:

One of the more compelling albums in the $5 group this month would have to be The Turning Point by John Mayall. Originally recorded at the Fillmore East in 1969 after his band the Bluesbreakers broke up with Mick Taylor going to the Rolling Stones, John Mayall got some musicians and decided to try performing music without “heavy lead guitar and drums” giving this live release a very intimate feel about it and let’s the listeners enjoy details not heard in a standard arrangement. Any fan of great and influential music would find The Turning Point to be a necessity in their music library.

Everything And Nothing Less (Live) by Chris McClarney

Album Review:

Chris McClarney began his career in 2006 and later produced a self released album. After many positive reviews, he began getting a decent following and on his latest album Everything And Nothing Less (Live) he puts it all on the line for one of the best worship albums this year. Live versions of God Of Miracles, All Consuming Fire, Everything And Nothing Less, Thirsty, Running After You (Deep Calls), and more will engage the listener from start to finish.

John Denver: Live In The Ussr by John Denver

Album Review:

When it comes to live recordings, they can be hit or miss. John Denver: Live In The Ussr is not only a hit, but a significant recording as well. The year was 1985 and it had been more than a decade since an American artist had performed in The U.S.S.R. and in comes John Denver with just his guitar and a piano for an intimate evening with an audience so politely quiet that John’s voice is on full display. You get so many of his best including Rocky Mountain High, Sunshine On My Shoulders, Leaving On a Jet Plane, Follow Me, Country Roads, Annie’s Song, Grandma’s Feather Bed, Calypso, Perhaps Love, This Old Guitar, and 17 more for more than two hours of music. This is an absolute must for any fan of John Denver. Check out the other $5.00 albums currently available.

Album Review:

While most of the tracks featured on Matt Maher’s All The People Said Amen are love cuts of fan favorites, there are also four new studio songs that make this a great album whether a current fan of his project or not. For any that may not be into Contemporary Christian music, Matt Maher may be just the artist to get you to start and standouts from this release include Lord I Need You, All the People Said Amen, Mighty Fortress, and many live favorites.
